TGEP Select
Publisher-selected books acquired on editorial and literary merit
TGEP Select identifies manuscripts chosen by The Good Earth Publishers for publication on the TGEP list. Selection follows editorial assessment and publishing review. Works that are acquired proceed through a publisher-led editorial, design, production and publication process under a written royalty-bearing publishing agreement.
An important distinction
TGEP Select is a publishing acquisition, not a paid publishing service.
TGEP does not offer paid publishing or author-funded editorial services. TGEP Select is considered only after editorial evaluation. Where a manuscript requires substantial development from drafts, records, research material, recollections or other source material, whether TGEP undertakes that work is considered by the editorial team as part of the acquisition assessment. It is not offered to the author as a separate paid service.

The distinction is straightforward. TGEP Select forms part of the Publisher’s acquisition programme. It is not a service purchased by an author.

Selection Principles
What defines TGEP Select
TGEP Select combines editorial judgement, publisher responsibility and sustained development of books chosen for the TGEP list.
Limited Acquisitions
Only a limited number of manuscripts can be selected because each accepted title requires sustained editorial, production and publishing attention.
Editorial Selection
Selection is based on the strength of the work, its place within the TGEP list and the Publisher’s assessment of its literary and publishing potential.
Publisher Funding
TGEP bears the publishing costs of manuscripts it selects and acquires. The author is not asked to pay an upfront publishing fee.
Editorial Development
Selected manuscripts move through the level of editorial development considered necessary by the Publisher before production.
Publisher Responsibility
TGEP directs the edition’s design, metadata, production, publication, distribution planning, pricing and market presentation.
Author Partnership
Rights, royalties, editorial responsibilities and publication terms are defined in a written publishing agreement with the selected author.

Selection may involve several stages depending on the manuscript, the Publisher’s current list and available publishing capacity.
Submission
The author submits the manuscript, proposal and required information.
Preliminary Evaluation
TGEP considers completeness, genre, fit and basic editorial readiness.
Editorial Assessment
The work is reviewed for voice, structure, originality and development needs.
Publishing Review
TGEP considers rights, readership, schedule, list fit and available publishing capacity.
Offer and Agreement
Selected authors receive written terms defining rights, royalties and responsibilities.
TGEP Select Case Example
The Race Never Ends by Nikhil Maheshwari
Following manuscript review and editorial consideration, The Race Never Ends was selected by The Good Earth Publishers for publication under TGEP Select.
The title then entered TGEP’s publisher-led editorial and production process and is governed by a written publishing agreement under which the author receives royalties.
This example illustrates the TGEP Select acquisition and publication process without disclosing confidential contractual terms.

Submission to The Good Earth Publishers does not guarantee selection under TGEP Select. A manuscript may be declined, or the author may be invited to revise and resubmit where the Editorial Department considers further development appropriate.
A partly written manuscript, proposal, body of records or other source material may be considered where the subject and material warrant editorial interest. Any decision by TGEP to undertake substantial manuscript development is made by the Publisher after assessment. Such assistance is not offered as an author-paid editorial service.
We encourage submissions representing genuine creative effort and original thought. Authors should disclose material use of generative artificial intelligence in the preparation of a manuscript where requested.
