Delhi–NCR. Delhi’s September air-quality index was its lowest in five years, according to Indian Express reporting on 1 October. The report also examines particulate pollution, showing why a better headline index should not be confused with the disappearance of the health issue.
Mumbai. CJP announced plans to extend its protests to Bengaluru, Kolkata and Goa at a Mumbai press conference on 1 October. Its Shivaji Park action was scheduled for 2 October. Demands and allegations against election officials are attributed to the organisers.
Bengaluru. Karnataka has sought central intervention over large markups on high-cost medicines. Economic Times reports that verification visits covered Bengaluru and several districts on 25 and 26 September. The reported markup findings remain attributed to the state authorities.
Hyderabad. Larsen & Toubro has extended the completion deadline for its Hyderabad Metro stake sale to 31 December, according to Economic Times Realty reporting published on 1 October. The revised deadline is a transaction update, not a notice that passenger services have stopped.
Kolkata. Metro services will be reduced for Gandhi Jayanti, The Statesman reported on 1 October. First and last train timings remain unchanged according to the report. Travellers should check Metro Railway’s latest line-specific notice before setting out.
Chennai. DT Next reports a decline in Chennai’s retail gold and silver prices on 1 October. Local jewellery quotations are different from futures-market prices, so this should not be read as contradicting every national commodities headline.
Pune. Eight students from a private Pune coaching class were reported drowned at Diveagar beach during an excursion. Indian Express’s 1 October report describes the information as preliminary. Diveagar is in Raigad district, not Pune city.
Ahmedabad / Gujarat. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced state recognition for pilot Smit Machchhar, Indian Express reported on 1 October. The story brings a significant Gujarat development to the Ahmedabad regional desk; it is not presented as an incident that happened in Ahmedabad.
