The Good Earth Publishers

The Readers’ Desk

Reviews, advance-reading comments, opinions and suggestions from the people for whom books are ultimately made — the readers.

Reader Correspondence

A book does not finish when it is published.

Publication places a book before its readers. What follows is another part of its life — response, disagreement, recommendation, criticism, recollection and conversation.

The Good Earth Publishers welcomes independent reader opinion. You may review a published TGEP book, comment upon authorised advance-reading material, request consideration for an advance copy of a forthcoming title, or write to us more generally about our books and publishing work.

01 / BOOK REVIEWS

Published Book Reviews

If you have finished a TGEP book, tell us what you thought. Your response may be appreciative, critical or mixed. We are interested in considered reading, not compulsory praise.

02 / ADVANCE READING

Request an Advance Copy

Selected readers may request consideration for a controlled digital Advance Reading Copy of a forthcoming TGEP title. Requests are reviewed individually by the publisher.

03 / READER'S VOICE

Comments & Suggestions

You may also write about subjects you would like to see published, our editions, the reading experience, or any matter concerning TGEP books and our work as an independent publisher.

Forthcoming Books

Advance Reading

TGEP may make selected forthcoming books available to suitable readers before formal publication through controlled digital Advance Reading Copies, proofs or authorised extracts.

An ARC request is not an automatic entitlement to receive the book. TGEP reviews each request and decides whether advance access is appropriate for that reader and title.

Approved readers receive the material privately. TGEP does not place the complete unpublished book on an open public download page.

The Race Never Ends

Nikhil Maheshwari

Readers with a genuine interest in memoir, finance, management, professional life, education or related subjects may request consideration for an advance reading copy.

Approved advance copies will be supplied privately by TGEP. They are not public downloads and may carry recipient-specific identification or watermarking.

How Advance Reading Works

Advance copies are issued selectively.

The purpose of an Advance Reading Copy is to allow suitable readers to encounter a forthcoming book before publication while preserving the author's and publisher's control over unpublished material.

01

Request

The reader completes the ARC request form and tells TGEP why the book is relevant to them.

02

Publisher Review

TGEP considers the reader's background, intended use and relevance to the particular book.

03

Private Delivery

If approved, TGEP sends a controlled digital copy, proof or authorised extract privately to the reader.

04

Independent Response

After reading, the recipient may return to the Readers’ Desk and submit an independent advance-reading comment.

The complete ARC is not hosted publicly on this page. Where TGEP approves a request, the reader may receive an individually identified or watermarked digital copy marked for advance reading only. Such material is not for sale, public upload, redistribution or forwarding.

Advance Reader Programme

Request an Advance Reading Copy

Complete this form if you would like TGEP to consider you for advance access to a forthcoming title.

Submission of this request does not guarantee that an Advance Reading Copy will be supplied.

Important

The physical edition of a forthcoming book may not yet be printed. Where appropriate, TGEP may therefore issue a controlled digital proof, Advance Reading Copy or authorised extract. Approved material is sent privately and should not be uploaded, forwarded or otherwise distributed.

Optional, but useful where the request is being made in a professional, academic, reviewing, bookselling or media capacity.
This is not a commitment to publish a review and TGEP does not require favourable coverage as a condition of receiving an ARC.

TGEP will use the information supplied here to consider your advance-reading request and, where appropriate, correspond with you. Form delivery is processed through a third-party form service for transmission to The Good Earth Publishers.

An Open Desk

Write what you genuinely think.

A useful review need not be flattering. Tell us what interested you, what stayed with you, what you questioned, where a book succeeded and where, in your view, it did not.

Longer responses are welcome, but a reader does not need to write a formal literary review. A few thoughtful sentences can sometimes say more than several pages.

Readers who have received an ARC should return to this page after reading and use the review form below. The review remains the reader's independent opinion.

Reader Integrity

Independent opinion matters.

The Readers’ Desk preserves the distinction between a genuine reader response and a promotional endorsement.

Purchased or complimentary copies

Readers may comment whether the book was purchased, preordered, borrowed, gifted or supplied as an advance or complimentary copy.

No favourable review is required

Receipt of an advance or complimentary copy does not oblige a reader to praise, recommend or endorse a book.

Relevant relationships

Where a reader has a personal or professional relationship with the author, or another material interest in the book, we ask that this be disclosed.

Spoilers

If a submission discusses important plot developments, endings or material that may affect another reader's experience, please identify it as containing spoilers.

This form is for readers who have already read a published book, preorder copy, authorised advance copy, proof or extract.

Your actual name and email address are requested for verification. If publication is permitted, you may separately choose how your name should appear.

Please write in your own words. A short considered response is as welcome as a detailed review.

Reader & Advance Copy Policy

Before material is issued or a comment is published

An application for an Advance Reading Copy does not guarantee selection. TGEP may approve or decline an ARC request at its discretion and is not required to state a reason.

Advance copies, proofs and extracts remain unpublished material. They may be individually identified, watermarked or otherwise marked for the approved recipient and are not intended for redistribution.

Receipt of an ARC does not create any obligation to submit a review and does not require a favourable review, recommendation or endorsement.

Submission of a review or comment to the Readers’ Desk does not guarantee publication by The Good Earth Publishers.

We may decline material containing abuse, unlawful allegations, advertising, promotional spam, impersonation, material unrelated to the book or publisher, or unnecessary disclosure of substantial plot details.

Unfavourable opinion is not, by itself, a reason for rejection. Readers are entitled to disagree with a book, its author or the publisher.

Where publication permission has been given, TGEP may reproduce a submission in full or quote a reasonable extract from it. Minor editing may be undertaken for spelling, grammar, length or presentation, provided the reader's meaning is not materially altered.

Personal contact details supplied through the Readers’ Desk are intended for verification, ARC administration and correspondence. They are not displayed with a published reader comment unless expressly authorised.

“The publisher sends a book into the world. Its readers decide what place it will find there.”
